In late 2023, I started tackling a bunch of small ideas in my mind, turning them into small prototypes or tech demos. Around this time is when I started getting really serious about finding an indie game concept to work on. These ideas would eventually lead to me discovering the main mechanics in CUBED!
The first is a grid-based procedural generation demo for a tower defense game concept. The idea was that you'd pick where to place your homeland tile, then a world & map would generate around it, making every run of the game new and fresh. I ended up not getting far past the procedural generation segment here, but I ended up using some of this knowledge later on.
The second is a platformer resource management game where you'd combat waves of enemies. Here I worked with many unique systems and A* pathfinding. The game never ended up being an actual "game," more of just something where you could hop around and see systems working. It's composed of many thing that, at the time, I did not know how to design, but wanted to learn.
